Proton eMas EV and PHEV Models Undergo PDRM Fleet Evaluation
Proton has officially commenced real-world testing of its new electrified lineup by handing over the eMas 5, eMas 7 EV, and eMas 7 PHEV models to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM). This initiative is designed to evaluate the performance and usability of these electrified vehicles across various operational requirements and fleet scenarios.
The testing phase involves a diverse selection of Proton’s latest electrification technology, encompassing both Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). By deploying the eMas 5, eMas 7 EV, and eMas 7 PHEV into active duty or simulated patrol environments, PDRM can assess how these models handle the specific rigors and durability demands of law enforcement operations. This evaluation will focus on critical metrics such as real-world range, responsiveness, and overall reliability in a high-pressure service context.
To facilitate this transition toward greener fleet operations, energy provider Gentari has stepped in to provide free charging services for the duration of the testing period. This collaborative effort underscores a broader move toward sustainable mobility within Malaysia's public sector. The data gathered from these tests will be instrumental in determining the feasibility of integrating electrified powertrains into the national police force's long-term fleet procurement strategy.
