Proton eMas electric and PHEV models to undergo PDRM field testing

Proton has officially handed over its new eMas lineup, including the eMas 5, eMas 7 EV, and eMas 7 PHEV, to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) for comprehensive evaluation. The testing phase is designed to assess the usability and performance of these electrified models under real-world law enforcement conditions. To facilitate the trial, Gentari will provide complimentary charging services to ensure the fleet remains operational throughout the assessment period.

The handover, which took place last week, marks a significant milestone in Proton’s strategic pivot toward electrification. By deploying the eMas 5, the all-electric eMas 7, and the plug-in hybrid eMas 7 PHEV to PDRM, Proton aims to gather critical empirical data regarding the vehicles' durability, powertrain reliability, and overall suitability for high-demand patrol duties. This rigorous testing process is essential for determining if these next-generation electrified platforms can meet the stringent operational requirements of Malaysia's primary law enforcement agency.

A key logistical component of this trial is the collaboration with Gentari, which will provide free charging access to support the fleet's mobility requirements. This partnership underscores the growing synergy between automotive manufacturers and energy providers as Malaysia pushes toward a more sustainable transport ecosystem. Should the evaluation prove successful, it could pave the way for the wider adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles within the nation's public service sectors, signaling a shift toward greener emergency response fleets.
