Proton eMas EV and PHEV Models to Undergo Royal Malaysian Police Evaluation

Proton has officially commenced a testing phase for its new electrified lineup with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM). The eMas 5, eMas 7 EV, and eMas 7 PHEV models have been handed over to the authorities to assess their operational suitability for law enforcement duties. This strategic move aims to validate the performance and practical application of Proton's latest powertrain technologies in a demanding, real-world environment.

The handover, which took place last week, marks a significant step in Proton's transition toward a more sustainable automotive portfolio. By allowing PDRM to evaluate the eMas series, the national carmaker is seeking critical feedback on the vehicles' reliability, durability, and overall utility during active duty. This trial is essential for determining whether these advanced electric and plug-in hybrid models can meet the rigorous standards required for police fleet operations.

To facilitate this intensive evaluation, energy provider Gentari has committed to providing free charging services for the vehicles during the testing period. This partnership underscores a collaborative effort between the automotive and energy sectors to support the development of a robust electric vehicle ecosystem in Malaysia. Should the testing prove successful, it could signal a major shift toward the adoption of green technology within the nation's public sector fleets.
