Proton eMas EV and PHEV Models Undergo Official Evaluation by Royal Malaysian Police

Proton has officially commenced the testing phase for its new eMas electrified vehicle lineup, handing over several models to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) for usability evaluation. The fleet, which includes the eMas 5, eMas 7 EV, and the eMas 7 PHEV, will undergo rigorous assessment to determine their suitability for law enforcement duties. To facilitate this pilot program, Gentari has committed to providing complimentary charging services for the vehicles throughout the testing period.

The handover, which took place last week, marks a significant milestone for Proton’s electrification strategy as the brand seeks to demonstrate the practical capabilities of its new sub-brand. By subjecting the eMas 5 and the dual-powertrain eMas 7 variants to PDRM's stringent operational standards, Proton aims to validate the durability and performance of these models in demanding patrol environments. This evaluation is essential in assessing whether the advanced electric and plug-in hybrid architectures can meet the high-intensity requirements of Malaysia's security forces.

Beyond the technical assessment of the vehicles, the collaboration underscores a growing synergy between the automotive and energy sectors in Malaysia. The involvement of Gentari in providing free charging infrastructure support highlights the critical importance of ecosystem readiness in the transition toward electric mobility. The outcomes of these tests will provide vital data on how electrified fleets can be effectively integrated into public service operations, potentially paving the way for broader adoption within government agencies.
