Proton eMas 5 and eMas 7 EV and PHEV models handed over to PDRM for evaluation

Proton has officially commenced the evaluation phase of its new electrified lineup by handing over the eMas 5, eMas 7 EV, and eMas 7 PHEV to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM). This strategic move aims to test the real-world usability and performance of these vehicles within law enforcement operations. To support this initiative, Gentari will be providing free charging services throughout the testing period.

The handover, which took place last week, marks a significant milestone in Proton's transition toward sustainable mobility. The testing fleet includes the eMas 5, the all-electric eMas 7, and the plug-in hybrid eMas 7 PHEV, offering a diverse range of powertrain configurations for the police force to assess. By deploying these different models, PDRM can evaluate how electric and hybrid technologies handle the rigorous demands of patrol duties, ranging from urban surveillance to sustained driving cycles.

This collaboration highlights a growing synergy between automotive manufacturers and energy providers in Malaysia's push toward green technology. The involvement of Gentari ensures that the testing process is supported by a robust charging infrastructure, with free access provided to facilitate continuous operation. Should the trial prove successful, it could pave the way for a wider adoption of electric vehicles within Malaysia's public service sectors, signaling a major shift toward greener government fleets.
