Taiwanese custom builder Rough Crafts has unveiled a radical reimagining of the Yamaha Tenere 700, transforming the adventure tourer into a dedicated flat-track machine. Dubbed the "YenereZ," this bespoke build draws heavy stylistic inspiration from Yamaha’s YZ450F motocross racer.
The transformation is most notable for its staggering weight reduction, which sees the motorcycle shed 47 kg from its original mass. While the standard Tenere 700 enters the market as a sturdy dual-purpose machine weighing 205 kg, the YenereZ has been stripped down to a lean 158 kg. This massive loss in weight, combined with a design language borrowed from Yamaha’s off-road racing stable, shifts the bike's persona from long-distance exploration to aggressive, short-course agility.
This project highlights the immense versatility of the Tenere 700 platform when subjected to high-end custom engineering. By pivoting away from the heavy luggage and touring ergonomics of the stock model, Rough Crafts has created a specialized, lightweight specialist that prioritizes maneuverability and raw aesthetic impact. The YenereZ serves as a testament to how radical design interventions can completely redefine a motorcycle's intended purpose.
