Evolvelectric Motors has officially signed an agreement with FT Assembly, a subsidiary of Feytech, to begin the local assembly (CKD) of the JAC T9 pick-up truck in Malaysia. This strategic partnership will see the T9 produced in three distinct powertrain configurations: diesel, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and fully electric (EV).
Under the terms of the agreement, the JAC distributor aims to localize production to better serve the domestic market through the facilities provided by FT Assembly. By opting for Completely Knocked Down (CKD) assembly, the brand intends to offer a versatile lineup that caters to both traditional combustion needs and the growing demand for electrified powertrains. This multi-variant approach allows the JAC T9 to target a broad spectrum of consumers, from heavy-duty users to eco-conscious drivers.
This move marks a significant milestone for the Malaysian automotive landscape, as it will introduce the country's first locally assembled EV and PHEV pick-up trucks.
