Proton S70 NA variant arrives offering significant savings over turbocharged model
Proton has expanded its S70 sedan lineup with the introduction of a naturally-aspirated (NA) variant designed to offer a more accessible entry point into the segment. This new model provides substantial upfront savings and slightly lower long-term maintenance requirements compared to the existing turbocharged version.
The S70 NA is priced competitively, starting from RM56,800 inclusive of a RM3,000 rebate. This pricing structure places the naturally-aspirated model RM23,000 below the turbocharged variant, making it an attractive option for buyers prioritizing affordability. By offering this lower barrier to entry, Proton aims to capture a larger share of the value-driven sedan market.
Ownership costs also see a marginal improvement with the NA engine, which is estimated to cost approximately RM4,000 in maintenance over a five-year period, compared to RM4,500 for the turbo model. While these figures remain higher than the industry-leading economy seen in the Proton Saga and Perodua Myvi, the S70 NA remains a compelling choice for those looking to upgrade to a more sophisticated vehicle at a reduced cost of ownership.
