Jetour Debuts Facelifted Traveller 7 in China with Enhanced PHEV Technology
The facelifted Jetour T2 has officially entered the Chinese market, rebranded as the Traveller 7 following its recent unveiling at the Chengdu Motor Show. The refreshed model will be sold alongside the existing Traveller lineup, providing consumers with a wider array of powertrain choices within the brand's rugged SUV segment.
The updated Traveller 7 maintains its distinctive boxy aesthetic while introducing significant mechanical refinements. Alongside the traditional 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter petrol engine options, the standout addition is a new Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) variant. This hybrid powertrain utilizes a modern 1-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), engineered to optimize the synergy between the electric motor and the internal combustion engine for smoother power delivery.
A key selling point for the new PHEV model is its impressive efficiency, boasting a WLTP-rated electric-only range of up to 173 km. By offering both established petrol engines and this high-range electrified option, Jetour is strategically positioning the Traveller 7 to capture a larger share of the growing hybrid SUV market. The decision to keep both the original Traveller and the new Traveller 7 in production allows the brand to cater to a broader spectrum of consumer preferences and price points.
