The Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) has seized 3,790 luxury vehicles with an estimated total value of RM550 million as part of its intensive "Ops Luxury" enforcement campaign. This massive crackdown highlights a significant surge in regulatory enforcement targeting high-end automotive assets across the country.
According to JPJ Senior Director of Enforcement Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan, the operation has seen tremendous momentum, with more than 3,000 vehicles impounded so far this year. A significant portion of these seizures—785 vehicles—was recorded in a recent concentrated sweep. The scale of the operation demonstrates a rigorous effort by authorities to monitor and regulate the presence of high-value vehicles on Malaysian roads.
Investigations into the ownership of these impounded assets have identified key demographics among the culprits, including cosmetic entrepreneurs, social media influencers, and various businesspeople. By targeting these high-profile groups, JPJ aims to address potential tax evasion, unauthorized imports, and other regulatory non-compliance issues. This large-scale enforcement marks a tightening of oversight within the luxury automotive sector to ensure all high-net-worth owners strictly adhere to national transport laws.
