2025 Chery Tiggo Cross CKD production starts in Kulim

Less than a month after its launch in Malaysia, local assembly (CKD) works of the 2025 Chery Tiggo Cross have commenced, with the first units rolling off the production line at the Inokom production line in Kulim, Kedah.

As a brief recap, the 2025 Chery Tiggo Cross Hybrid is Malaysia’s most affordable hybrid SUV, as it is priced from just RM 99,800 (on-the-road, without insurance). The hybrid variant is powered by a petrol-electric hybrid system, combining a petrol engine (102 PS & 125 Nm) and Chery’s Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), allowing for a combined system output of 204 PS and 310 Nm.

Claimed fuel economy for the hybrid is 5.4L/100 km, and when coupled with the large 51-litre fuel tank, the Tiggo Cross Hybrid is claimed to offer a range of up to 1,000 km per tank.

As for the more affordable (RM 88,800) turbo variant, power comes from a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that does 147 PS and 210 Nm, hooked up to a 6-speed dual-clutch (DCT) automatic transmission, sending drive to the front wheels. 0-100 km/h is dispatched in 10.3 seconds.
