Tesla Malaysia has announced a mid-cycle update to its Model Y lineup, featuring a significant performance enhancement for the Model Y L variant. Alongside this speed upgrade, the manufacturer has also implemented a price revision, with costs rising by up to RM3,000.
The centerpiece of this update is the improved acceleration profile of the Model Y L. The electric SUV now delivers a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds, shaving a notable 0.5 seconds off its previous five-second benchmark. This enhancement provides a more spirited driving experience, making the Model Y L a more competitive contender in the performance-oriented EV SUV segment.
Despite the added performance, Malaysian buyers will face a higher entry point for the Model Y range. The recent price hike sees costs increase by as much as RM3,000, depending on the specific configuration. While the price adjustment may be met with hesitation, Tesla appears to be leveraging the performance gains to justify the increased premium for its local customer base.
