Proton Expands S70 Lineup with New 1.5L Naturally Aspirated MC2 Variant
Proton has officially expanded its S70 sedan range with the introduction of the 2026 MC2 naturally aspirated (NA) variant. This new offering provides a more accessible entry point into the S70 lineup, catering specifically to value-conscious buyers.
The new MC2 NA variant is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine derived from the existing Proton Saga powertrain, delivering 120 PS and 150 Nm of torque. To ensure a more refined driving experience, the engine is paired with a torque converter CVT. The lineup is introduced in two distinct trims: the Lite variant, priced at RM57,000, and the Prime variant, retailing at RM60,000.
This launch is a key component of Proton's forthcoming MC2 facelift strategy, aimed at strengthening its competitive position within the sedan segment. By offering a naturally aspirated alternative to the turbo-charged models, Proton is strategically broadening its market reach to appeal to a wider demographic of drivers seeking a balance of modern design and practical affordability.
