Ahead of the upcoming Budget 2027, the Malay Parallel Importer and Trader Association (Pekema) has called on the Malaysian government to provide targeted assistance for Bumiputera automotive entrepreneurs. The association is seeking strategic support to help local dealers successfully navigate the industry-wide transition from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs).
Pekema’s plea emphasizes the need for a structured roadmap that ensures local entrepreneurs remain competitive as the automotive landscape undergoes rapid electrification.
