Chery reveals more details on upcoming Stockman diesel plug-in hybrid pick-up

Chery has released further specifications for its highly anticipated Stockman, a vehicle set to make history as the world’s first diesel plug-in hybrid (PHEV) pick-up. While the brand has begun accepting orders in its primary Australian market, the launch timeline has faced a slight adjustment.

The Stockman aims to redefine the utility segment by blending heavy-duty diesel performance with modern electrification. The powertrain is expected to deliver a formidable 476 PS and a massive 800 Nm of torque, providing the necessary grunt for demanding towing and off-road applications. Additionally, the vehicle offers a significant 96 km WLTP electric-only range, allowing drivers to tackle daily commutes with zero emissions before engaging the diesel engine for long-distance hauling.

Despite the excitement surrounding its arrival and the opening of order books in Australia, enthusiasts will have to exercise patience. Recent updates indicate that the official release of the Stockman has been delayed, with a new target arrival date set for February 2027. This shift suggests Chery is focused on perfecting the integration of its unique hybrid system to ensure the vehicle meets global standards for reliability and performance.
