Aston Martin to Retain V8 and V12 Engines Until 2035 as EV Transition Looms
Aston Martin has clarified its long-term powertrain strategy, confirming that its iconic V8 and V12 internal combustion engines will remain in production until at least 2035. While the British luxury manufacturer is committed to a fully electric future, the arrival of its first dedicated EV is now expected no earlier than 2033.
According to reports from Autocar, the marque is adopting a measured approach to electrification to ensure its high-performance heritage remains intact. Rather than an immediate pivot, Aston Martin intends to keep its legendary combustion powertrains at the heart of its lineup for the next decade. This strategy allows the company to continue delivering the visceral driving experiences demanded by its clientele while simultaneously engineering the next generation of electric architecture.
The brand's complete transformation is slated to culminate in 2035, at which point the entire existing lineup is expected to be replaced by electrified models. However, the bridge to this sustainable era appears to be lengthening; with the first all-electric model not expected until 2033 at the earliest, Aston Martin is signaling that the era of the internal combustion engine will persist longer than many industry analysts initially predicted.
